Interactive showcase

Interactive Showcase is a relatively new concept in the advertising world. Structurally, it is a video surface that displays any necessary information. Unlike a regular screen, the interactive showcase is equipped with a multi-touch system, allowing users to interact with the displayed information. Simply touching the screen with a hand enables the user to access the required data quickly and conveniently. This method is increasingly used for advertising purposes, as easier access to product information accelerates the consumer's purchasing decision.

A virtual showcase resembles a wall-mounted screen. Its parameters vary; there are small showcases of 30 sq. cm., but larger constructions of up to 10 sq. m. can also be created if necessary. The screen surface is seamless, and the image quality remains high and unified. In the past, images lacked such detail, but today, realistic graphics are no longer a novelty. Information is transmitted to the panel via a USB cable, processed by a control computer. The system response is fast, with no noticeable pauses, enhancing the equipment's efficiency.

Virtual showcases are highly relevant today and are widely used. They can be seen not only at presentations and exhibitions but also in stores, educational institutions, and public spaces. Multi-touch showcases are used in the following areas:

• large stores, boutiques, mobile phone salons;
• cafes, restaurants, bars, nightclubs;
• presentation and exhibition venues for stand equipment;
• educational institutions;
• lecture and conference halls, and various public establishments.

What are the benefits of such equipment? It enhances work efficiency and comfort. When virtual showcases are used in sales, a company's profits increase significantly. Installing such constructions minimizes errors caused by human factors.

The Magical World of Virtual Showcases

What sets a virtual multi-touch showcase apart from other advertising and media equipment? Traditional methods and technologies, once widely used, are no longer as effective. Product promotion and manager tasks follow outdated plans that fail to surprise or attract consumers. What does this lead to? Company profits gradually decline, and even promoting a new product becomes challenging. A virtual showcase is a unique opportunity to address this issue and elevate product sales to a completely new level.

The equipment differs in functionality and specific features, but each device is of the highest quality, delivering realistic and vivid images. A touch-sensitive showcase with a rear projection image delivery system is considered the simplest. The showcase's surface serves as both the screen and the video processing device. Interactive equipment is mounted behind the screen, including:

• IR projectors;
• IR cameras that track all user movements;
• special computer that processes all data, on which a licensed individual program is installed.

Before the first activation, a specialist performs the setup and calibration of the Interactive system. This ensures all conditions for the smooth operation of the system's functionality are met. Special software enables the showcase to function with simultaneous touch at up to 50 points. The configuration can vary depending on the customer's specific requirements.

A showcase based on the KINECT technology allows any surface to be used as a screen, not just a special panel. Today, bright LED screens are most in demand as they provide not only brightness and realistic images but also energy efficiency. A video system is mounted on the back to process all the data, including user touches. The response is quick, with no noticeable pauses, providing high user comfort. Calibration is done during the first activation and takes little time.

The KINECT system has some limitations:

• management requires a complex control system;
• with a large audience, there may be some difficulties with system calibration, meaning it becomes harder to select a target, which limits the number of simultaneous users (compared to 50 touches in the previous system);
• the content cannot include small buttons or pointers, as they can only be used in large scale.

Multi-touch showcase with an IR frame requires the use of LCD or plasma panels. The IR frame is a multi-touch system that allows multiple users to interact simultaneously with 2-32 touch points. However, the showcase works best when the number of touches does not exceed six.

The video showcase has many advantages, especially compared to other technologies. This bright screen, which can be controlled only by gestures, immediately attracts attention. The image remains bright and incredibly realistic, regardless of the lighting level. The control is simple and convenient, allowing users to view information, watch slides, and learn about the latest products. Using a virtual interactive showcase is a new step that makes it easy to present a new product, conduct an effective advertising campaign, and attract visitors' attention.
